It's A Good Life

Dearest Readers,

On September 23 2002, I lost my grandmother, Peggy Joyce Whetton. She was 78- and had fought a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. When my grandma "PJ" was first diagnosed with cancer, my family moved in to her house for several months to help take care of her. During her final months, she moved in to our home. We cleared out our dining room and made way for a hospital bed.
I could tell my grandma appreciated the help from my caring parents, but I could also see that she missed being independent. My heart broke to see my grandmother that way. She had never looked so frail, and during her hospital visits, I could barely walk into the room.
I miss my grandmother with all my heart. She was a kind, caring, and devoted woman who always made me feel important. She used to tell me that I had the voice of an angel and that my smile could light up a room. But Grandma PJ was a very talented woman herself, who shared her talents willingly.
She raised my dad and his 2 sisters on her own. She played the piano like a pro, gardened, and was an outstanding bowler and chef.
I was only 11 when my grandma PJ returned home to our Heavenly Father, but I am grateful for all 11 years I did have with her. I used to go to her house for sleepovers, where she would make us homemade Mac & Cheese and we would watch Peter Rabbit. I would give anything to do that just once more.
Cancer takes so many precious lives. We may not understand why, but we have to have faith that He has a plan for them far greater than we could imagine. And yet, at the same time, many people have won the battle against cancer, and continue on the path of life, stronger than ever before.
That is such the case as our sweet cousin, Quinton "Q" who is starting his radiation treatments today.

He is such an amazing kid. I am so blessed to have met him! He is very smart, kind, and really funny. Whenever I spend time with this awesome guy, I forget that he is still a kid! He talks like an adult, and I consider him a good friend. During our time together, he teaches me about super hero's (to which I knew very little about at first) and we talk about our love for Harry Potter and 80's music. I can't believe at his age, he knows my favorite band U2!! (He has excellent taste in music)
I promised Q I would take him to see the "Hobbit" in December. I look forward to it, as I have finished the book, upon his recommendation. I also look forward to MANY more years of friendship.
Stay strong, Q. I believe in you. You aren't done on this earth. You have many people cheering for you.
Keep going for all those people who are fighting. Forget Iron Man, Spiderman, The Hulk, Thor-- They have nothing on you. You are a true everyday hero.
And grandma PJ, thanks for being my guardian angel. I feel your presence often, and will always love you.
Forever Strong.
Taylor

Utah In The Fall

 Dearest Readers,

We took these beautiful pictures on labor day in Provo, Utah near Bridal Veil Falls. We are so blessed to live in such a beautiful world, and I am completely in love with how the mountains look this time of year.

It's Game Day

Dearest Readers,

I have been having a great time learning about football from my wonderful husband. I am really starting to love going to football games, because I finally understand (somewhat) of what is going on! The first game was in the late afternoon, early evening. It rained pretty hard, and so we wore light jackets.
The second game that took place a few days ago was in the early afternoon (About 1) And we got fried! I still can't touch parts of my face without severe pain. It just goes to show you that you should be prepared for all types of weather in Utah.
Oh, and by the way... We have won both games! We play our rival the University of Utah this Saturday, and we are going to watch it at my parents. I am so excited! We also get to see my 2 youngest siblings (Trevor & Caitlin) play soccer in the morning.
And to cap up what DJ and I did this weekend: We went to Salt Lake to one of my best friends Birthday parties. My dear friend Ashley from high school (Who was also my roommate in my 3rd year of college) Celebrated her 22nd Birthday!! I love her dearly. We had a blast at the party. We also went to a Hawaiian grill because we had a coupon for $20 of free food. It was pretty good! It made DJ and I remember how bad we wanted to go to Hawaii though! Then we did the football game, and I recovered from my fierce sunburn.
All in all, it was a great weekend, and I am very happy for all the blessings I have.

August 2012

Dearest Readers,

DJ & I have fallen a little behind on our blog posts! Things have been kind of hectic here, so lets bring you up to speed, shall we? So first off, the month of August pretty much flew by, don't you agree? I can't believe it is already September!
During the month of August, DJ finished his really big order from China at work. Yay! All the long work days and heavy workload finally paid off, and what an accomplishment! I am so proud of DJ for his strong work ethic. We both know that you don't get very far in this life without hard work, and that if you set your mind to it, you can really accomplish great things.
Speaking of big accomplishments... DJ and I decided this summer that we wanted to start training, and by July 2013 we hope to run in a Salt Lake City marathon. It's no small task, but it's going to be great. Everyday we do something that will push ourselves to go a  little bit farther, so we can be a little bit better. And it certainly feels nice! We will certainly keep you posted as time goes on about our marathon goal. We were going to run in a 5K in Provo, but it costs about $70 per person to get in and we don't have that kind of money! But, we did want to run a 5K in October, so we might be planning our own little marathon.
Other than that, DJ and I have been excited about the new BYU football season. We started off with a BYU kickoff that we took our cousin Quinton to, and we got to meet the players and get their signatures/ take pictures with them. It was a lot of fun!

And last week, we had our first football game where we won against Washington State! There is such and exciting energy at games, it is really exciting to be a part of it all.
Overall, we had a great month! There came challenges and hard times, yes- but in the end, it all was worth it because each day I get to do it all with my best friend at my side.
